The Foundation is a statutory corporation established under the Victoria Law Foundation Act 2009.
The Act defines the Foundation's powers and functions and provides for the appointment of the Foundation's Board, Executive Director and staff.

Board
The Foundation's Board is made up of eight members: one each nominated by the Chief Justice of Victoria, Law Institute of Victoria, Victorian Bar and Federation of Community Legal Centres with four nominations from the Victorian Attorney-General. The Chief Justice's nomination is also the Foundation's Chairperson. See: Board
