Our Board

Victoria Law Foundation is an independent statutory body governed by an eight-person Board with the Executive Director. Board members serve on a voluntary basis.

Victoria Law Foundation's independent Board is appointed under section 7 of the Victoria Law Foundation Act (above) and consists of eight members, four of whom must be lawyers. Each appointment is for three years.

Four members are appointed by the Attorney-General of Victoria with reference to their specialist skills in key areas of the Foundation's work. The other four are appointed on the nomination of the following bodies respectively: the Chief Justice of Victoria (whose member is also the Foundation's Chairperson), the Victorian Bar, the Law Institute of Victoria and the Federation of Community Legal Centres.

On 23 June 2011 the Victoria Law Foundation Amendment Act 2011 came into operation. It will reduce the number of Board members appointed by the Attorney-General from four to two as of June 2012.
