Our story

Victoria Law Foundation has a rich history spanning more than 40 years.

First established in 1967, the Foundation's primary vision was always to raise community understanding of, and access to, a better and more responsive justice system. The brain child of former Law Institute of Victoria presidents Tom Molomby and John Cain, the Foundation was set up to provide for the community using the accumulation of interest from solictors trust accounts from the Legal Services Board's Public Purpose Fund.

Over the years the Foundation has provided essential initial funding to the Victorian Law Reform Commission, the Leo Cussen Centre for Law, the PILCH Homeless Persons Legal Clinic and the Human Rights Law Resource Centre.

In 2010/11, the Foundation awarded $491,065 in grants funding, distributed 155,123 publications, presented a packed Law Week program, and travelled to fourteen schools as part of the annual Law Talks program.
