Walk and talk about 1850's Melbourne - hear tales, events and lawlessness of the gold rush era


Join us on the Melbourne Golden Mile Heritage Walk and hear why strong law and order was an important ingredient in the heady gold rush days of the 1850’s. So many immigrants and new wealth brought about need for a conscientious group to control the heady times in boom town!

With a professional tour guide follow the brass plaques along the streets where the historic past of Melbourne is relayed. Tales are told about the surprising characters behind Melbourne’s boom town growth-from prima donnas and prime ministers to bushrangers and architects. Also the ‘true’ tale of the madam and the mace!!
