About the project
On 1 September 2011, the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Vic) was amended to give owners/renters whose permanent residence is a caravan or residential park or village the right to participate in residents' committees. In response, Housing for the Aged Action Group created a Residents committee toolkit to help inform, support and guide residents through the process of forming and maintaining a committee, and work began to educate permanent park and village residents.
It was realised by Housing for the Aged Action Group that this information and education process required more resources, and more input, from residents. As a result, the action group proposed to publish a report documenting the value and need of residents' committees.
Outcome of the project
This report comes from a need to evaluate the value of residents' committees, the barriers they face and the resources they need to be effective and sustainable.
