The Goulburn Valley had no permanent community legal centre, only a pilot service in Shepparton managed by Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre based in Bendigo. Effectively, the Goulburn Valley, which has demonstrable disadvantage and need, is a community legal centre blackspot. Accordingly, the 'CLC4GV' campaign aimed to:
- urge governments to fund a permanent community legal centre in the region
- promote the Goulburn Valley Community Legal Centre pilot
- promote the value of community legal centres in the region.
The campaign uses a website and blog, e-newsletters, Facebook, Twitter and video in conjunction with more traditional campaign methods (lobbying, etc.) to promote the existing pilot service and to make the case for a commitment to ongoing funding from government.
In mid-2012 the state government provided funding for a permanent community legal centre.
