Dealing with financial abuse in family violence

General Grant
2012/2013
$9,816 (exc GST)

This grant funded the development and distribution of a new information booklet for women in Victoria who are at risk of, or are suffering from, financial abuse.

Economic abuse is a recently understood component of family violence. Unlike economic abuse for elders, there are almost no practical resources for women on how to deal with issues surrounding this form of abuse.

WIRE requested funding to develop and print a 12-page information booklet on economic abuse in the family violence context. Money problems with your partner? Dealing with financial abuse in family violence will be a resource for the general community, distributed through WIRE’s walk-in centre and through their education programs. Women will also be mailed a factsheet, which will also be available for download via their website following contact with WIRE’s phone service.
