To scope the legal needs of hospital patients in order to create training material for hospital staff and to identify the best ways to deliver legal services in hospital settings. This will inform a larger project that will eventually provide pro bono legal services at three hospitals in Victoria.
During the needs assessment phase of the project, a Steering Committee was formed to oversee the overall project to establish relationships with those who will be involved in the implementation and provision of the services; discuss how the services should operate and what should be involved within guidelines for the operation of the services; to learn about the types of legal issues those working within health related community advocacy organisations commonly confronted by clients and; discuss potential methodologies and aims of an evaluation of the services.
