About the project
A grant was awarded to fund a 10-week program to bridge the gap between the Australian legal system and Arabic-speaking youth living in Hume and Moreland.
Outcome of the project
The Law and Us forums targeted Arabic-speaking youth in the Moreland and Hume local government areas. Two forums took place, the first at Fawkner Secondary College and the second at Penola Catholic College. Across the two schools, 65 students attended the forums.
The forums became the platform to bridge the gap between Arabic-speaking youth and the justice system. The issues raised within these forums will also be discussed at a number of network meetings to raise awareness of the issues faced by Arabic-speaking youth.
