The library and the legal system – how to complain online

A grant was awarded to conduct a pilot project with the four libraries in the City of Wyndham to help library users lodge disputes and complaints online using library computers, and to produce a comprehensive complaints manual provided by the legal service.

The project investigated new and effective delivery mechanisms to improve access to justice in the isolated suburbs of Wyndham’s outer urban areas. The project centred on enabling library patrons to lodge online complaints with 19 different services.

Two lawyers attended three libraries in the City of Wyndham, holding eight clinics across a four-week period.

The manuals were distributed to patrons prior to and during the clinics to help patrons determine the relevant schemes to complain to, and for their use as a future resource.
