Deliver small projects to support community legal need and improve understanding of the justice system.

Access funding for small projects

In 2023 we renamed our Small Grants to Everyday Legal Grants to better describe the types of projects we fund. Eligibility and criteria remain the same.

Our Everyday Legal Grants can be used to fund:

  • one-off projects addressing civil legal issues for a specific community, such as a resource or tool
  • pilot projects offering new approaches to delivering civil legal information or navigate the Victorian justice system.

Grant guidelines

In addition to meeting the object of Victoria Law Foundation and our grant aims, priority will be given to applications that can demonstrate the guiding principles:

Evidence

Evidence of legal need and a good case that the response is likely to make a difference.

Impact

Projects that have potential to reach significant audiences – this could be a broad audience or a project that responds to a current legal issue or need for a specific group of Victorians.

Eligibility

Everyday Legal Grant applications are open to community legal organisations and not-for-profit community organisations.

Eligible organisations include community legal centres, community organisations with an internal legal service or a not-for-profit organisation in partnership with a legal service.

Non-legal organisations are required to partner with an organisation with suitable legal expertise to ensure accurate legal information is provided to the audience group.

We only fund organisations – individuals are not able to apply.

Application Timeline

Everyday Legal Grants are now closed as the 2023/24 funding has been fully allocated.
