An interactive map of legal need in Victoria using PULS and Australian Census information

Understand where people require legal assistance

Transforming legal need survey data into interactive maps of Victoria

The small area modelling research, developed in collaboration with the VLSB+C Legal Services Research Centre, is about bringing data to life, enabling more people to use it in more ways.

This project uses data from the Public Understanding of Law Survey (PULS) to calculate and predict civil legal problem prevalence. It uses models developed on PULS data and applies them to Census data that is then aggregated to the small area level.

You can also find a short practical guide from the VLSB+C, which provides further information on how the maps were made and how you might use them.
