Toolkit for representing pregnant women and mothers who are incarcerated or at risk of imprisonment
To develop and publish legal toolkit to equip Victorian lawyers with human rights, health and wellbeing arguments to effectively represent pregnant women and mothers who are incarcerated or at risk of imprisonment.
The purpose of this project is to develop and publish legal toolkit to equip Victorian lawyers with resources and arguments to effectively represent pregnant women and mothers who are incarcerated or at risk of imprisonment. The toolkit will collate information and research regarding topics including the health risks of pregnancy in custody, the health and wellbeing impacts of parental incarceration on children, access to pre and post-natal care, and access to the Living with Mum Program. The toolkit will provide guidance on raising these matters in criminal proceedings, administrative applications, and other forms of advocacy, including human rights advocacy.
